As you approach the exchange points, orange cones will direct the relay runners into the relay exchange zone. If the relay exchange zone is on the marathon path, the relay runners will stay to the side of the course that the relay zone is on. Signs and volunteers will help direct the relay runners near the exchange zones. The tag on the bottom of your bib number will be taken at the exchange points for record keeping purposes only. Each exchange point will have a team of volunteers to monitor hand-offs and facilitate pickups by bus or individual team designated drivers.
After you hand the wristband off to your teammate, move out of the way of other incoming runners as directed by race officials. Be careful when you pass the wristband from one member to the next! A dropped wristband can cause major problems in the exchange zone. It's not a pretty sight … If you lose the wrist band: Not to worry. A slapping of team hands at the exchange zone is permitted as a valid exchange. The tag on the bottom of your bib number will also be taken at this time for record keeping purposes only.
Only one relay team member is to cross the finish line. Any teams observed crossing with more than one team member are subject to disqualification.
NOTE: Relay leg exchange locations are subject to change as needed to account for any construction along the course. Any such change will have a minor effect on mileage and will mainly impact exact exchange location and surrounding parking. Final exchange points will be noted in the race packets, in the last email blast sent to all participants and during race-morning announcements.
