Join Our All-Volunteer Team!

We love our volunteers! It takes literally hundreds of volunteers to make our event go smoothly. We welcome anyone interested in volunteering to call or email us to get involved! The sooner you volunteer, the better... If volunteers sign up early, it allows us to find out what areas need more coverage and what areas are fully staffed. When you contact us, please let us know the area in which you prefer to volunteer. If you have no preference, we'll be glad to call or email you back the week before the event with your assignment. Here are the assignments for which we are still recruiting volunteers for our 2007 event. If you are interested in volunteering for these positions, click here to send us an email.

Expo/Packet Pickup
Assist with handing out numbers, T-shirts, and registering runners in all events.

Plaza Control
Key point person that directs runners and running groups setting up on the American Airlines Plaza, and provides last minute directions to the runners looking for the start line, relay bus location, port-o-lets, etc. Begins at 6:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 10:00 a.m.

Bag Drop
Approximately 10 – 12 volunteers that collect clothing bags prior to the race start and disperse as participants return. Begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m., although the number of volunteers needed begins dwindling after 12:00 noon.

Coning of Course
To place cones along the race course beginning at 6:30 a.m. and retrieve them up after the last participants beginning at 9:00 a.m. (a driver, and a small team people to do the actual work.)

Course Split Timers
Call times out to runners at each mile mark and pace every 5 kilometers. Split timers on the early part of the course start around 7:30 a.m. and end their shift in 15 minute increments as the last runners pass by every mile after 9:00 a.m.

Course Guides
Encourage and direct participants at every turn along the course. Like the Split Timers, the course guides end their respective shifts based on an 18 minute per mile pace along the course.
